GlutenScanner is a helper tool, not a guarantee. The verdict is based on ingredient lists from open databases and manufacturers, which can be incomplete or outdated. With coeliac disease or severe intolerance, always read the packaging yourself as well.
Then you can take a photo of the ingredient list - the app reads the text and assesses it. You can also submit the product so we add it to the database for everyone else.
Your previous scans and favourites are stored on the phone and can be viewed offline. New lookups need internet, since the product is looked up in the database.
The app also flags the other EU allergens it finds in the ingredient list - among them milk, egg, nuts, peanut, soy, fish, crustaceans, celery, mustard, sesame, sulphites, lupin and molluscs. Gluten remains the app's main assessment, though.
Found a mistake, missing a product, or have an idea? Write to us - we read everything.
Important: GlutenScanner is a helper tool, not medical advice. Databases and automated lookups may be incomplete or outdated. If in doubt - especially with coeliac disease or severe gluten intolerance - always read the ingredient list on the packaging yourself.
